Wax?

What IS waxing?: Waxing is a popular hair removal method where the hair is removed from the roots for results lasting up to 6 weeks. Wax is applied to the area with unwanted hair in the direction of hair growth, the skin is held taut, and the wax is quickly removed in the opposite direction.

Does it hurt?: Everyones pain tolerance is going to be different, but it is generally very well tolerated. What you can expect is a pin prick or slight tingling sensation immediately after the wax is removed lasting a few seconds. Redness may occur for a few minutes to a few hours, depending on how sensitive you may be. After regular waxing, the discomfort lessens, which is why it is ideal to stay on schedule with Bikini and Brazilian waxing!

Is the wax hot?: The wax is warm, but should never be uncomfortably hot. The temperature of the wax should always be tested by the esthetician prior to applying it to the client.

What is the difference in wax types?: Hot wax, or hard wax, is melted to a thicker consistency than warm, or soft wax. As it cools down it shrink wraps around the hairs, gripping them tightly. The wax is then pulled off the skin without the need for a strip. Warm, or soft wax, is a thinner consistency than hot wax and requires a strip for removal. Warm wax is best suited for larger areas.

How often does it need to be done?: Everyone is going to be different, but results can vary between 3-6 weeks. If you are new, expect to come in a little more frequently than if you are a regular waxer!

How many sessions before optimal results are seen?: Your hair grows in 3 stages, so if you are staying on schedule with your waxing, it can take up to 3 sessions to see optimal results.

We also of course offer Brazilians! A standard Bikini removes the hair outside of the bikini line. An Extended Bikini removes a bit more than a standard Bikini Wax. A Micro Bikini removes most of the hair from the pubic area, leaving either a small rectangle or triangle and a Brazilian removes it all!

What is a Brazilian Wax?: A Brazilian wax completely removes all of the hair from the pubic area, including "between the cheeks"!
